The heart chakra is the evocative energy center within the body where we both find and process: love, compassion, grief, devotion & so much more. Known as the keystone chakra, this chakra’s health affects the ones below it and above it, thus bringing it into more balance and harmony is key. Tips on how to decipher and work with both excesses and deficiencies in this potent chakra are offered as well as healing tools and stirring insights to develop a deeper understanding of how to live in a more inspired way by staying connected to this chakra.

“It is only in the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

SHOW NOTES:

The heart chakra is the “keystone” chakra connecting the lower & upper chakras.

“Anahata” the Sanskrit name for this fourth chakra and it literally means the “unstruck sound.”

“It is only in the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Japa is the practice of mantra (mind tool) word repetition. So anytime we repeat a sacred phrase or syllables infused with the power of having been repeated by the masses for a period of time with an uplifting powerful intention, then the repetition of these sacred words is called Japa practice. When the practice becomes internal and silent, it is called Ajapa.

“The heart is the hub of all sacred places, go there and roam.” - Bhagawan Nityananda

Unconditional love & compassion towards others and towards ourselves helps activate this chakra.

It is associated with the element air and develops as a child from the ages of 4-7. As adults, we develop it as our focus becomes on relationships and on the re-evaluation of our own behaviors.

The chakra challenge of this energy processing center is dealing with grief and loss.

Excesses and deficiencies in this chakra can be balanced.

It is associated with the color green and the essentials oils: Bergamot, ylang ylang, geranium, lemon, coriander, tangerine, jasmine, chamomile & rose.

The Sanskrit Bija (seed) Mantra is YAM & one can practice repeating this externally or internally to bring harmony to this chakra.

It is tied to Monday and to the Moon.

In western astrology the signs of Air: Aquarius, Gemini & Libra are linked to it.

Affirmations are given to help heal this chakra.

Guided meditation practice: Repeat “HAM” on the inhale and “SAH” on the exhale. Notice if you can hear these very syllables in the sound of your own breath.

This chakra is about your relationship with the universal, divine, void, spirit, presence, humanity or whatever you want to call the aspect in life that is both the force and the source.

Get clear what and who you are devoted to in this moment in time (and make this a practice periodically). When you are doing seemingly “mundane” tasks, connect this work to what you are devoted to in your mind and watch the shift in how you feel doing them. Every act you can remember, offer it up to the divine. Practice being compassion in action & devotion in motion and watch your heart chakra thrive.
